Adding a printer to a Macbook Air is a simple procedure. You just need to follow a few steps and your printer is installed and ready to use: Step 1.

- If the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the System Preferences window is locked, click it and enter an administrator name and password to unlock it.
- Click the Add printer (+) icon at the bottom of the Printers pane to open the Add Printer window.
- If the printer appears when the Default icon is selected, select it and skip to step 8.
- If the printer does not appear with the Default icon selected, click the IP button on the toolbar.
- IP printers have three printing protocols to choose from. Select the appropriate option for your printer.Note: If you pick a protocol other than HP Jetdirect, you may have to manually select the appropriate PPD and installable options.

When your Mac communicates with your IP-capable printer the message 'Valid and complete address' appears below the Address field. If the message 'Invalid or incomplete address' appears, make sure the IP address is properly entered and that it is the IP address configured on the printer. Next, your Mac establishes an IP connection to your printer and displays 'Gathering printer information…'. It then selects the associated printer driver in the Print Using menu.
If your Mac is able to communicate with the printer, but it is not able to automatically determine the print driver needed, choose the option 'Select Printer Software…' from the Print Using pop-up menu in the Add Printer window. Enter your printer model in the search field to quickly find the appropriate driver. If the model of printer is not listed, but your printer is a PostScript printer or PCL Laser printer, try the 'Generic PostScript' or 'PCL Laser printer' driver options. Generic printer drivers may not let you access all the features of your printer. - Once your Mac finishes communicating with the printer, click Add to create your printer queue.
I've been trying to connect my macbook to my new printer wirelessly for the last hour or so. I've gotten part of the way - I enabled access point mode, and the printer shows up as a network when I search for networks to connect to, but I don't know how to go from this point to actually printing. Is there something I need to do on the computer side of this operation?

- My printer is not printing my page headers with the page numbers! MAC with HP printer I'm using a Mac with OS 10.12.2 and an HP Officejet 6500. I'm printing a PDF with page numbers at the top of each page. Those numbers are clearly visible on my screen when I open the document. But my pages are printing without them. In fact, the little preview image in the printer pop-up window does not show the page numbers. I suppose the page numbers do count as a 'header,' but I didn't think that would matter. Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?

- Can a POE (power over ethernet) access point become POE router? My isp currently has MAC binding so just as a life hack i have given the MAC of the Wi-Fi router and all the members can use the Wi-Fi (including guests) whose MAC is not submitted to the isp. So now my isp has put up POE access points in each home in my building. I don't want that obviously… Is there a way to bypass this?
- I have a Canon iP8720 printer. Why has some of my prints (11 x 14) come out looking kind of crooked even when I put the paper in straight? For some of the prints, the whole image looks crooked not just the border. They look slightly crooked but not too much. I have a Mac. I have followed all the correct steps in printing a full image properly and I haven't touched the margin settings. The photo paper I use is from Inkpress media and it's luster photo paper for inkjet printers.
